The words, layout and drawings on this site were made for it. If you believe something here nonetheless uses your work without permission, please send a notice; each one gets a prompt review. Content on the site that Start opens, or on any other partner site, is not hosted here; please contact those services directly about it.
What a notice must include
Use the form at Support, choose the subject about rights, and include:
- the work you hold the rights to, described clearly enough to find it;
- the exact address on this site where you saw the disputed material;
- your name plus a contact we can actually use, an email address being easiest;
- a line stating your good faith belief that the disputed use lacks any blessing from you, from your representative or from the statute books;
- a declaration, made under penalty of perjury, that the details in your notice are correct and that you hold the right or are allowed to act for the person who does;
- your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is enough).
What happens next
Complete notices are answered as fast as we reasonably can. Where the claim holds up, the material is removed or changed, and you hear back from us. Incomplete notices may get a request for the missing parts before anything else happens.
Counter-notice
Anyone whose material was removed and who believes that was a mistake can reply with a counter-notice, using the very same form. That reply names what was taken down and where it used to be, declares under penalty of perjury that the takedown happened by mistake or because the material was misidentified, includes a name and a way to get in touch, and consents to the jurisdiction of the federal court for the judicial district where the sender lives.
Anyone who files a claim they know to be false may owe damages under 17 U.S.C. 512(f).
